The 2025 Tekana Online Campaign aims to protect youth online
As Rwanda continues its transformation into a digitally empowered society, the risks associated with cyberspace are also growing in complexity and scale. Ensuring that all citizens, especially vulnerable groups, understand how to navigate the digital world safely is critical.
The National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), as the country’s lead institution on cybersecurity and data protection, plays a central role in promoting responsible and secure use of digital technologies. Through public campaigns and awareness-raising initiatives, NCSA works to equip Rwandans with the knowledge and tools needed to stay safe online.
Young people (specifically children, teenagers and young adults) use the internet for education, entertainment, communication, creativity, and exploration. While these opportunities support their growth and development, they also expose young people to risks such as cyberbullying, online predators, harmful content, and data misuse. Just as youth deserve protection from physical harm, they must also be safeguarded from digital threats and taught how to recognize and respond to them.
In response to this urgent need, NCSA will lead a nationwide cybersecurity and data protection awareness campaign from October 1 to 31, 2025. This year’s campaign will focus specifically on educating young people, parents, educators, and the wider public on how to create a safer digital environment for young users.
Campaign objectives
Educate youth on online safety best practices when using the internet
Educate parents and guardians on how to protect young people as they use the internet
Educate other vulnerable demographics such as persons with disabilities on online safety best practices
