Chrome Security Updates

Description

Google has released updates to address security vulnerabilities in Chrome for Desktop (Windows, Mac, and Linux) all versions prior to 92.0.4515.107. This new release (version 92.0.4515.107) includes stability and performance improvements. This July update includes 35 security fixes with 9 rated high in severity.

Security Risks

These vulnerabilities can be exploited if a user visits, or is redirected to, a specially crafted malicious web page.
Successful exploitation of the most severe of these vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code, and run any command on the target system.

Recommendation

The National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) recommends all users and administrators to update their Chrome browsers to the latest versions by following the instructions below:

  • Open your browser. Click the Customize and control Google Chrome button --> in the upper-right corner of the screen.

  • From the drop-down menu that appears, select Help, then select About Google Chrome.

  • The window that appears will automatically check for updates and show you the current version of Chrome. If an update is available, Chrome will be updated automatically. After Chrome is updated, click the RELAUNCH option to restart Chrome and complete the update.

  • Or simply click the Customize and control Google Chrome button Update when update is available.
