Background

From January 22 to 28, 2024 the Data Protection and Privacy Office will launch the Data Privacy Week to raise awareness of Data Subject rights and obligations of Data Controllers, Data Processors and Third parties.

The privacy week will include data protection trainings, awareness campaigns and the sharing of social media content related to frequently asked questions about Rwanda's law on personal data protection and privacy.

Objectives

• Raise awareness of the Rights of Data Subjects and data protection best practices

• Build compliance capacity of Data Controllers and Data Processors

• Distribute supporting resources to Data Controllers and Data Processors

Activities

1. Online training on 'The Heartbeat of Privacy: Key concepts, principles and grounds of processing', Tuesday January 23rd 2024

2. Online training on 'An overview of Rwanda's Data Protection and Privacy Law, Wednesday 24th January 2024

3. Personal data protection and privacy awareness campaign for local government officials, Rwamagana, Eastern Province, Thursday January 25th 2024

4. Online training on 'The Role and Responsibilities of the Data Protection Officer', Friday January 26th 2024
