NCSA and partners conduct cybersecurity awareness for 500 students at RP Huye College

As part of the national Tekana Online cybersecurity and data protection awareness campaign, on Wednesday 22nd October, the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), National Child Development Agency (NCDA), MTN Rwanda, and Airtel Rwanda, conducted an interactive awareness event at Rwanda Polytechnic Huye College.

The session brought together more than 500 students, creating a vibrant space for dialogue and learning around online safety. Through engaging discussions, participants explored practical ways to protect themselves and others in the digital world.

Students learned essential tips to stay safe online, including:
  • Password Protection: Using strong, unique passwords and keeping them confidential.
  • Think Before You Post: Being mindful of what they share online, as it can have unintended consequences.
  • Know Your Rights: Understanding their rights related to data privacy and how to protect their personal information.

Representatives from the partner institutions urged the students to exercise caution online, warning against cybercrimes and encouraging them to seek support when targeted. They also emphasized the importance of responsible internet use and avoiding engagement in harmful online activities.

Partners reaffirmed that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility and their commitment to raising awareness among all communities to ensure that everyone can safely access and benefit from digital opportunities.

This initiative is part of the broader #BaMaso and #TekanaOnline campaigns, which aim to empower Rwandans with the knowledge and tools to stay safe and confident online while building a more inclusive digital future for all.
